Free rides and New year!

Heyy, this is Erin. Obviously. :)
I would like to tell you about the free fides i've been doingg.

Okayy, so first i rode 2 days ago for about an hour and a half with my good friend Eric. My instructor asked me to do the free ride on this horse Cajun because he was being bad with the lower levels. So I got on him. He wasn't bad or even bucked once. He was really good actually. He just liked to speed up like a la max. Nothing I couldn't handle :) Instead of having to really control him, the whole time, I decided to just work him a lot to get the pep outta him. I did lots of umping, only to 2'3" though. Anyways yesturday a younger lesson girl was riding Cajun and he was way better. Not nearly as fast. Which means I did my job :) (L)

Yesturday, I did another free ride. This time I was asked to ride
Ripples. She can be really bad and start rearing and going on a super bucking rampage. So when I first got on her, she was okayy, alittle testy. But okayy. Then as I got used to her and we did more with cantering stuff, and jumping. I soon found out shes way better then I thought and not as bad. Or maybe, she was just having a good day. :) Anyways I ended up having lots of fun and working her well. :)

NEW YEARSS TIMEE:

For New Years my life was nothing special. I went to a friends house and slept over last night. The joke is, I didn't sleep. I have donee about 24 hours of awake-ness. :P Anyways, we called some people and had fun on msn. And eventually (8:30 am) everyone fell asleep, except me :(.
I am still awake so I decided to publish this post!! Sorry if I make tons of mistakes D:

Anyways Happy New Years!! TWENTY TEN!

Napoleon

In the last blog I put up I realized that I totally didn't mention one pony I had fallen in love with a long time ago. This was the first pony/horse I ever loved and really went to the barn for specifically.

As you may have guessed this ponies name was Napoleon. He was and is the cutest pony ever. He is a 12.2 hh white Welsh, Persheron mix. He always had a little bit of a foot problem, so whenever he was ridden he had to wear boots. Like real horse boots. It's really funny to see them on him. When I first rode him I learned how to put them on and then after tacking up I brought him into the arena. I was really nervous to get on him because everyone said he was mean and that he kicks and bites. Which was true, but still.

When I first got on him it wasn't like a love at first site kinda thing. It was slow and hard. He tested me and tested me and I was never fast enough to correct him. My legs started burning like hell and I started to learn how to be faster. Then eventually I got him going. From lazy to excitable, from testing to listening. Soon I hardly had to use the crop. Just squeeze a little and maybe one or two shoulder taps a lesson. That's when I really started loving him. That's when we started bonding and really looking and being like a team.

Then I started getting bigger and out grew him, but continued to love him. Even now a year and and a half later I still love him and go see him whenever I'm at the barn. That is the story of Napoleon and I.

What will my next blog be about?? I wonder...

Here We Go...

Hey, My name is Erin and I have brown hair and brown eyes. I'm about 5'4" and I am 14 years old. I go to high school, in grade 8, and I love it. If you are around my age you know exactly what it's like to be a teenager, so no need for explanations.

This is my first posting in
Wild Eyed and Spirited. My whole blog will be about me and my love for horses, mostly. I love horseback riding most of all. It is my favorite passion. If you hadn't guessed I also love the horses.

There are two horses I love in particular. The first one is named
Copper. He is a gorgeous 14.2 hh, chestnut Quarter Horse. He is one of the best horses for beginners but he's also a fabulous Jumper, who could win everything with the right rider. I loved him from the minute I saw him and still do. The thing that sucks though, he got retired by the owner and now I will never see him again. Time to move on for me, and i did, kind of.

The horse i fell in love with next, was the total opposite of
Copper. Her name is Curtsey. She is a 14.2 hh dappled grey Connemara. She is the best horse for dressage. I never did or will ride a better one. She was soo smooth that it felt like you were just along for the ride. On the other hand, she spooked at a lot and was completely green in jumping. We helped her a lot at my barn and I loved riding her. Then she started always flipping her leads or picking up the wrong one, out of nowhere. No matter what we did she wouldn't stop, so the owner took her to a special training stable. First, it was a few weeks, okay I could handle it, but then it got longer. I started wondering, when my mom told me that the owner had sold her. She was never coming back. Now Copper and Curtsey, were gone. What was I going to do?

At first it was hard, but I got used to it. Even though riding wasn't as fun as it used to be. I had finally found a horse I really liked. Her name is
Mattie, she is a15.3 hh, brown Trakaener Thouroughbred. She is a speed machine and an excellent jumper. A big challenge for me though, she likes to always go, go, go. I wouldn't say i love her, yet ;)

I am still riding her, i have been for the last two months. I love riding and hopefully will for a long time. The only question is, is another horse going to come and sweep me off my feet?
